Metandienone (INN) (trade names Averbol, Dianabol, Danabol, Metanabol, Naposim, Vetanabol), or methandienone (BAN), also known commonly as methandrostenolone, and known also as 17α-methyl-δ¹-testosterone or 17α-methyl-1-dehydrotestosterone, is an orally active anabolic steroid originally developed in Germany and released in the United States in the early 1960s by Ciba Specialty Chemicals.Metandienone is a controlled substance in the United States and Western Europe and remains popular among bodybuilders.

An injectable form is sold online from United States-based companies. Metandienone is readily available without a prescription in countries such as Mexico (under the trade name Reforvit-b), and is also manufactured in Asia and many Eastern European countries.

Usage

As a tonic

In the early 1960s, doctors commonly prescribed daily metandienone for women as a tonic. This was quickly discontinued upon discovery of its heavily masculinizing effects.

Bodybuilding

Despite the lack of any known therapeutic applications, the drug remained legal until 2001.The United States Congress added certain kinds of steroids which may or may not include metandienone  to the Controlled Substances Act as an amendment known as the Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 1990.

This act placed steroids in the same category as some amphetamines as a "Schedule III" drug and possession of these drugs results in a felony. It is used by bodybuilders and metandienone continues to be used illegally to this day, typically being combined (stacked) with injectable compounds, such as testosterone propionate, enanthate, cypionate as well as other injectable drugs like trenbolone acetate.

Several successful athletes and professional bodybuilders have admitted long-term metandienone use before the drug was banned, including Arnold Schwarzenegger. Other steroids stacked with metandienone are primarily, if not always, injectable compounds such as testosterone, trenbolone and nandrolone.

Large doses and long-term use of metandienone have been associated with eccentric left ventricular hypertrophy which presents substantially increased risks of cardiomyopathy if and when the hypertrophy atrophies.Athleticism is typically associated with left-ventricular hypertrophy; however, natural athleticism generally presents concentric left ventricular growth which is not linked to an increased risk of cardiomyopathy.

How to use dbol and at what dosages?

Dbol is used as a bulking steroid that produces mostly 'wet' gains (puffy look). It's mostly added as a kick start to bulking steroid cycles during the first 6 weeks. This is done to allow for the longer ester injectable steroids to produce results, while the dianabol provides quick gains – strength, size, mass and confidence. It's usually stacked with deca durabolin, testosterone or trenbolone.

Although it's used as a kick starter to many bulkers, it doesn't mean it can't be a stand alone cycle. If used with Cardarine (GW-501516), aromasin, and winstrol, dianabol can become a stand alone oral cycle. Granted, the cycle will be short, maximum 8 weeks, but you'll see some wet, hard gains, which will be worth the effort.

Dosages of dianabol vary depending on your goals. If you're stacking with a long ester injectable steroid, you should be doing around 30mgs per day, up to 50mgs per day. If you're using it in an oral only cycle, you can get up to 75mgs per day, but you really have to be careful with the side effects.

There is a bridge theory, where you can use 10mgs per day for months with little side effects or problems with HPTA. Having tried this, I can say that it's only valid if you're using it with an AI (aromatase inhibitor) like arimidex or a SERM (selective estrogen receptor modulator) like nolvadex. Otherwise, you'll be constantly bloated, even with a low 10mg/day dose.
